Just caught this story this morning.

Interesting, e-Bay says they will drop the processing for gambling sites, which represent 15% of PayPal's total revenues. Too risky long-term, apparently.

Wonder what changes we'll see at PayPal, if any.

EBay would close its own similar service, eBay Payments by Billpoint, which was later to the game and hasn't proved as popular as PayPal; more eBay sellers accept funds through PayPal than through Billpoint.
... http://orlandosentinal.com/business/sns-ap-ebay-paypal0708jul08.story?coll=orl%2Dhome%2Dheadlines I feel for those that chose to use Billpoint instead of PayPal :( I also wonder how much the rates will go up? Last but not least, I of course hope Ebay improves the PayPal services and that the merging of fraud protection routines brings the best of the two together rather than the worst.

Time will tell.

...brings the best of the two together rather than the worst. I am hopeful that it will, I think it's a good pairing. I'm not usually a fan of mergers and acquisitions, but this can work. IMHO

Weird. I was just getting into Billpoint which I prefer over PayPal - it's simpler. And now Billpoint is going the way of the Dodo.

Ah well.
