I was just wondering how much bandwidth a site with Normal activity would get in a month, because I can't figure what package to get.
I think you'd have to define 'normal' activity before it's possible to give a good answer to that one.
Will you have a resource hungry bulletin board or will it just be straight static html pages?
Our http://www.soccerphile.com site eats up a Gold package amount of bandwidth (15GB) becuase we have a reasonably successful bulletin board and a fair amount of content.
I think the best advice always is to start with the Basic package and then upgrade if you are running into bandwidth or disk space problems. Keep in mind though that you will need a minimum of a Gold package if you want to have access to MySQL.

Joe is correct and I agree with the begin small and if you need larger it's simple to upgrade.
For another point of reference aota.net (this site) uses just over 6 GB of bandwidth per month. For disk space and MySQL requirements however it requires the Gold package.
If we did not have the forums on this site then the Basic package would more than cover it.

- But are we 'Normal'?
<edit> forms != forums </edit>
Wow - I'm really surprised. I would have thought aota.net's bandwidth would have been closer to 60 GB - I find the tutorials invaluable as well as the forums. I suppose the gzip on vBulletin helps a bit, as well as small choices like not allowing attachments which could also consume some bandwidth.
If you had some kind of stats for your existing site (even page views x average page size from a counter if not server stats) then you can start to predict. It really just depends on how broad the topic of your site is, how much work you put into promoting it, how long it has been around to pick up a following, and what type of content you offer. But the nice thing is that it's painless to upgrade when you need to - when you signup for a FutureQuest account you will get daily stats which show you the traffic at a glance so you'll know what you need and can upgrade as necessary. Of course it sometimes feels good to have some room to spare too.

We'll be moving on to a gzip enabled PHP forum soon!
