I need to change my email address with Internic. Can this be done easily? I received their invoice today, and I misspelled my email address when I first registered vdj.net.

Also, is it ok to give them something@vdj.net?

Well, it is supposed to be easy to change your internic info... http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif

Go to rs.internic.net/ (http://rs.internic.net/) and look for the modification forms. You'll have to fill out a bit of stuff, then they'll produce a page. Towards the bottom of said page is a button that will email that info to you, and then you have to forward/reply it on to hostmaster@internic.net Overall it's a fairly easy process, until they bungle stuff

Now for the ugly part. Check out the thread a little below here in which I'm whining about internic. I keep getting 'user unknown' errors when I try to submit changes on my domains (two of three return the error, the third worked fine *grump*)

In other words, good luck!

Oh yeah. I believe it is not recommended to use an email addy going to the domain in question, but I'm not totally sure. There are quite a few people who do it, and don't seem to have any problems. However, if you do, I think you might want to consider one of the other methods besides the email, like PGP or something.

heh just the title of this thread scared me... Internic is so fubar right now it's pathetic:/

But... to answer your question.... do the following:

Go to http://rs.internic.net/help/domain/mod-domain-reg.html and select the appropriate link for what you are wanting to do.

It should be pretty self-explanatory... make sure when you make the modification that you have access to the email address they have currently listed. If you do not have access to that address there is an option for that .. just make sure you choose the correct one and follow the steps they line out for you.

Only advise... if at first you don't succeed... try, try, and try again http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Good example of what happens when someone has an absolute monopoly on service.

I never though of that - are they affiliated with the US government? I think the DOJ should go after them!!!

Internic has been FooBar for the last **month**...

FQuest and hundreds of other hosting companies and individuals are experiencing the same problem...

I almost sent them some candy and flowers cause I thought I might have ticked them off... http://www.aota.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Wasn't me though, it seems they are breaking everyone's heart right now...

Current Internic Status: (from what I've been seeing)

New Domains: 3 - 7 days
Transfers: Roll the dice... ( 7 days to 1 month)

AAAArrrggghhhhhh...

Try to find any info about their delays on their web site rs.internic.net (http://rs.internic.net) ... You won't! Basically Internic is placing the burden of blame on the hosting companies by denying they have a problem... Yet I have spoke with other hosting companies that are ***all*** experiencing the same delays / errors / glitches... Why won't they just fess up and say they got hacked >hard< over the Christmas Holiday??? Partial retribution would be for them to describe how they intend to improve their service so that this won't happen again... *sigh*

So basically, I had the good luck of everything working right, with my domain taking 12 hours to become active, and I screwed it up by giving the wrong email address!!!

Hehe http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

I can break anything - without even trying!

haha, yeah ... I'm just so glad I actually got through that whole transfer process w/o going crazy. Yikes, that was rough. I've always wondered about InterNIC... It's weird how this one company handles ALL domains on the Internet. Are they government-owned or what because they look like a normal company. To anyone dealing w/ InternIC ... I recomend calling them because that's what I had to do to finally get the job done. To my surprise the guy was actually quite friendly too. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully they'll get back on track w/ quicker service soon. see ya. http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
