Don't know which section to put this in, so I'll ask here.
Strangest thing has been happening on my main site (ursatz.com) for about the last two or three hours. There's no access problem with http://ursatz.com , but there seems to be difficulties with http://www.ursatz.com.
Could someone explain that to me?
Thanks.

Four of us have tested the site from various locations both with and without the www attached and none of us were able to see a problem with the connection.
I am not able to provide much input as I cannot see anything wrong with either. I'm sure others will test as well.
You may want to try some traceroutes to ensure everything is getting from your location to the servers ok...

Yes: of course immediately after I sent the posting, I also had no problem (Murphy's law).
But, from a general knowledge point of view, why would I have had that problem to begin with?
Outside of the distinct possibility that I am losing what little of my mind I have left!
%)
Thanks.

There could have been a glitch in your Internet Provider's DNS...it's really hard to say but everything on this end is (and has been) running smooth. Let's just hope whatever it was is gone ;)

I've encountered this type of DNS glitch with my small local ISP, and I don't really understand exactly why it happens. It comes and goes - some months it doesn't happen at all, and others I experience it many times. If I dialup usually everything works, but then after a certain amount of time (sometimes 40 minutes, or an hour, or two) dns will start to not work correctly. Sometimes I can visit google.com but not www.google.com or vice versa - sometimes I can visit lots of sites but not certain ones like aota or yahoo. Sometimes I can only visit or ping or tracert sites I've already visited in the last few days (as if the internet is shrinking.) Then if I simply hang up and redial it will *usually* work fine again, then it might trail off an hour later. I'm not sure if it is something related to my comptuer, or their network, or their dns server ??? I do know that with the same computer if I connect via satellite I don't have any DNS problems - it's only with the dialup ISP that this occurs.

Let me guess. Your DNS servers are 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2. Verizon right?
4.2.2.1 goes down 6 to 8 times a day. 4.2.2.2 is not bad at about once every two days. Been giving me a lot of pain lately.
