I'm considering adding "chat" to my church's website for our youth. With an eye to protecting them to some degree, I've found a java client that logs into a safe channel and seems not to be able to be manipulated to jump to other channels.

(We understand the good & bad of IRC and know that if the youth realize it's just and IRC channel like any other and that they can use a regular IRC client, then that's their choice. Through the church website, tho, the java client seems to offer a good interface that will keep the youth and adults both happy.)

If we do add this, I need a Windows-based IRC program so as to have a bit more power and not be restricted to the java client's settings.

Having not used irc for some eons, what's the current "best" or most popular program out there these days?

Mirc is the way to go as far as Windows OS is concerned...
