View Full Version : CNC suggestion
In the CNC when I want to Change Mode I am given the option of a quick change by clicking on 777 or 666, but I have to click on them individually. It would be great if I had the option to Change Mode of all the files in a directory with one click.

Hi Joe,
In the old CNC if you wanted to change multiple file permissions to a single permission such as 755 you could, BUT if you needed to change File A to 755 and File B to 644 you had to do them individually.
In the current CNC you can do either in one shot BUT you have to click the button, for a preselected choice or enter your own in the text box next to each file, and then a single "Make it So" button to change all the files at one time.
At the time of the current CNC development Deb argued, rather strenuously I might add, for the older functionality, however in this instance the Developers won. And that is the history on this evolution of the CNC.
Now, as a result of your bringing this up and Deb's very adamant belief that we should be able to have the best of Both Worlds, it will be considered once again when the next incarnation of the CNC is in development.

Thanks for replying Bob.

At the moment if I have 50 files in a directory and I want to change mode to the same mode for all 50 files, I have to make 50 clicks (or type in the new mode 50 times) and then click submit, which is what I think you mean up there. It is, as you can imagine, quite time consuming. Doing it via FTP is the way to go, but I do hope Deb wins the next round! ;)
