TeRRa, when you get a mo' to catch your breath...(no, better not put it THAT way...)

Between emergencies :hammer:, is there any way the Counter script could be updated? Current version is 2.5 and it includes a comma feature (before every 3rd digit from right) that'd be very nice.

Only quick "gotcha" I see is that the separator for whatever version is used now is a "pipe", and the 2.5 version uses "&".

You'd not have to update the Aota "build-a-counter" features, but it'd be handy for the barely-advanced like me and those much smarter to have the extra features to fiddle with.

Thanks for considering this...

LOL!!!

Ummm, that is not just a gotcha, that is more like a quick train wreck waiting to happen... ;)

Roughly 45% of the site owners use our counters on their web pages - if that one little change were made - then emails such as: "Well, it was working fine yesterday - what did you do!!!", followed by "Hmmmm, I didn't get that upgrade notice", and then the obligatory - "please downgrade it, just for my account."

Every now and then I feel a bit destructive, so I may try to schedule the chaos during that time - however there are big things looming ever so closer that is captivating our combined efforts...

The Service Desk would light up like a CD in the microwave-- Hey, that sounds cool! What does that look like? ;)

As it stands now, the servers are frozen in preparation for the upcoming relocation and to avoid introducing any potential monkey wrenches...

If you really need 2.5, then you can easily compile this yourself and install it locally into your account... All of the tools are available for you to do so and his documentation is excellent... ;)

Hey, that sounds cool! What does that look like?

While toasting a CD in the microwave may void your warranty, harm the machine, and cause your pets to glow, all of which would not be the responsibility of myself or my employer...

They spark. If you put one in and fire up the microwave for even a second, sparks fly around the critter. When you take out the CD, assuming you don't let it sit there until it becomes a fire or fume hazard (1 second worth of microwaving will do this), what you get is a CD with:
one smooth side, one very, very rough.
The aluminum layer "cracked" or shattered, but held in place by the plastic. It's very interesting-looking.

Something to do with the AOL discs you have filling up a desk drawer... or closet... or warehouse...

And after you take it out of the microwave, put it on top of your handy dandy Tesla coil (as if we all have one of them lying around), and REALLY watch it light up (http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~wwl/cdzap.html).

American Science and Surplus is only a few miles away, they've got Tesla coils "in stock"... I'm tempted. :)

I'm tempted. I really feel the need to repeat something... Caution! be ready to stop the oven when the CD-ROM starts to smoke. The smoke smells bad, and is probably bad for you. For anyone who finds the pretty light show just tooooo tempting Please Be Careful!!!!!! It only takes a couple of seconds to create a horrid toxic smell throughout the house that could be potentially dangerous (and/or deadly) to small pets and/or children.

Use Caution.

Ahh, yes, I hadn't ever run a microwave on a CD for more than a second or two, but I can see where even that could be particularly bad for certain pets (i.e., birds, which are Just Slightly Sensitive to toxic scents).

So take the microwave outside, and... um... OK, what was this thread about again?
