OK, here's the deal. I never really valued the concept of a "portal" site for an ISP - and as such, our web site (www.alphabreeze.net) is pretty basic and with no really special "portal" type features.

Then one day, last week, one of our dial-up customers mentioned to me that the only thing they missed about their previous provider was their great web site. Well, turned out that customer had been using Juno - and if you go to Juno's web site (www.juno.com) and click on the "My Juno" link, they've got a tremendous portal.

Well, I fell in love with this thing right away. I definitely now see the potential that I was missing before (I'd always heard the word "portal" and thought "Yahoo" or "Excite" - neither of which excite me in the least. But this Juno portal - wow.)

So, I'm looking for someone to design a portal site for me, along the lines of what Juno has (though obviously without infringing on their copyrights). The actual content and whatnot of the site is something I'll work on once I've found a designer.

It's a pretty simplistic design - I don't need nor want a lot of graphics. But the HTML is kind of complex and there are likely to be some scripting needed as we get into it.

I don't have the budget to pay a high-priced designer, but here's what I can offer. You do the design for me, and I'll give you a free dial-up account ($18 to $20 per month value depending on how many e-mail addresses you need on it). In addition, we might be able to negotiate an on-going payment (real money) if there is potential for on-going maintenance - but the initial template design I'd prefer pay by bartering the dial-up account if it's possible.

So - anyone interested, please drop me an e-mail to jason@alphabreeze.com.

Thanks, and I hope there are some people out there who need a better dial-up account and like to design web sites.

Jason

P.S. - before you agree to this deal, please make sure that we have a dial-up number local to you. We have about 2200 numbers nationwide, but that's unfortunately not 100% coverage. You can look up our numbers at our web site at www.alphabreeze.net.

Thanks!

Juno's portal page *is* impressive.

You can do most of the features they have and then some (like local weather, etc.) using scripts from the following URLS:
http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Content_Retrieval/
http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Content_Retrieval/

http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Link_Indexing_Scripts/Open_Directory_Project/

http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/
http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/

I'm okay at design, but I think you'd want some one who is excellent at it! ;)
