How do I create an HTML or RTF email with an embedded flash file which automatically launches in a new browser window when the user opens the email?

Before we answer that can you assure us that you will use this knowledge for good and not for spam?!

The email will be sent to a mailing list which was compiled via a promotion in which the user had to opt in to receive information from our client specifically. This is the first occasion that the users have been mailed. We are a recently established web design agency (www.holler.co.uk (http://www.holler.co.uk)) who are fully aware of the damaging effects of spam on a user group.

If this is the first occasion that list members have been mailed, then I say that they haven't yet properly opted in.

Another thing to consider is that many users abhor html email, and some actually delete it on the way in without pause. If you want to make it easy for them to follow links, it's easy enough if you just put it into the text stream.

Did your opt-in explain that you would be sending embedded script which launches new browser windows automatically upon opening? Many users have intentionally disabled such bad behavior, so that your message will be pointless to them in which case they wouldn't opt in. Others may just become irritated at you because you launched a browser window at them. In either case, it doesn't look like you're on the road to making friends on the list; and some of them will pounce upon you.

Just some notes of caution. It's easier to avoid these problems in the beginning than to manage the damage after it's been inflicted.
