Hello!

I have never been able to send e-mail from my domain.[nbsp][nbsp]I use MS Outlook and my ISP is Prodigy. Last I tried to troubleshoot this, I got nowhere.[nbsp][nbsp]Any ideas?[nbsp][nbsp]I get an error :unable to connect to server smtp.kaleidoscopewebs.com.[nbsp][nbsp]Someone suggested last time that a (oh boy, my memory fails me) Port (something) #30 could be blocked by my ISP and I should request that they unblock it.[nbsp][nbsp]They said it was "not blocked".

Any other ideas??[nbsp][nbsp]Thanks!!!

smtp.kaleidoscopewebs.com doesn't exist, you should use mail.kaleidoscopewebs.com

Hello Rebekah,

What you were referring to is Port 25, and here is a tutorial that shows you ways to determine if your ISP is, indeed blocking it.

Arthur was absolutely correct, your settings should be:
POP =[nbsp][nbsp]pop.kaleidoscopewebs.com
SMTP = mail.kaleidoscopewebs.com

Here is a tutorial referring to these settings:
http://www.aota.net/Email/emailsetup.php3

Hopefully one of these will allow you to accomplish what you want or tell you why you can't ;)

Have a Good One

Arthur-

Darn![nbsp][nbsp]Thanks for your reply![nbsp][nbsp]I had my hopes up, but I was actually just in error on my post.[nbsp][nbsp]My outgoing is set to mail.kaleidoscopewebs.com - the error says "SMTP Server: mail.kaleidoscopewebs.com......"

Thanks anyway![nbsp][nbsp]Any other ideas? :-)

Bob-

Yup![nbsp][nbsp]Port 25 sound like it.[nbsp][nbsp]Last time somebody told me how to tell, and I believe I tried and found that it *was* blocked, but Prodigy told me that it was not????[nbsp][nbsp]I don't see the method for determining this in your message and can't seem to find it in the tech notes.[nbsp][nbsp]Could you tell em again where that is?[nbsp][nbsp]Thanks for your help![nbsp][nbsp]You guys are so fast!!! :-)

Try this to determine if access is indeed blocked (by your ISP or otherwise);
(I'm assuming you use MS Windows 98 or alike)
- open a MS-DOS prompt
- type telnet mail.kaleidoscopewebs.com 25
- now you'll get something like 'trying to connect'
[nbsp][nbsp]* if you can connect you'll get a prompt from Qbert (hold down Control key and type "]" and then type "quit"
[nbsp][nbsp]* if you can't connect, there's something wrong

I'm having the same problem trying to send through my domain as well. Where are the hopefully explicit instructions on how to set this up? I connected using Telnet but can't connect using Outlook.
