I remember paying $100 for the first two years with some of my first domain names, now we consider all of the .com, .net, and .orgs to be $70 ... but.... are there going to be price wars?

Last week when I went to https://secure.netwizards.net/domains.html they were selling them for $50 first two years and saying it was only $25 per year thereafter.[nbsp][nbsp]Today it says $60 for first two years.

FutureQuest is still registering domain names at NetworkSolutions because we are not going to be paying for the domain owner's domain names, and all of the others require payment first.[nbsp][nbsp]Soon NetworkSolutions will require payment first also (what we will be doing at that point is to be determined... I can tell you that their "Bulk Buyers/Partners" deal leaves a lot to be desired).[nbsp][nbsp]But if you were to register your domain names yourself, the opportunity seems to be there for you to save some money.

If you're in the market for a new domain name, you may want to take the time to shop around.[nbsp][nbsp]There's a chance you will save some cash if you register the domain name yourself at one of the other registrars.

You will find quite a list of registrars at http://www.corenic.org/

The required NameServer information, if you plan to host the domain name on the FutureQuest Servers, may be found at http://www.FutureQuest.net/OtherDomain.php

Woohoo! I have been waiting for this moment, Network Solutions giving up its monopoly on .com, net, and org domain names!!! I promised to be there when it's empire starts to crumble, and here I humbly stand in awe of the givernments awesome power and Network Solutions' stupid move to tear down Internic.net and forward it to their very own commercial website.[nbsp][nbsp]

Thanks for the info Deb, I will attempt to do it myself next time... just for Network Polutions' sake. :D

And yet another one joins the race... A domain registrar in Germany has quietly introduced competition in domain name pricing. CSL GmbH, a member of CORE, is offering two-year registrations in the top-level domains .com, .net and .org for 40.9 Euros (US$43.50). That's almost 40% off the industry-standard fee of $70 established by Network Solutions Inc. -- a price adopted by the other new registrars. CSL president Siegfried Langenbach predicts that once word gets out, other registrars will be forced to lower their prices. NSI charges $119 for a two-year registration with name service. CSL's fee with name service rises to 65.46 Euros (US$69). Register.com, one of the first five ICANN-accredited registrars, charges $70 for combined registration and name service, Internetnews.com reported.
