Hi,

When I submitted a application to buy orlandohotdeals.com a couple weeks ago, the admin contact and the registrant name were one and the same on your application--they couldn't be separated out. (That has since changed). Since I had to put myself and my company as the admin contact, that left my company as the owner too. For some reason I didn't receive any Internic confirm e-mails either--it just went through.
Now I need to change the registrant to the client I bought it for. Is there an easy way to do this? (The Network Solutions site says the domain has to be paid for first and who knows when the client will get around to paying for it).

This could be a hard one to solve. Here is my understanding of Internic policy: Once the domain name is paid for the only way to change the registrant name is to have the current registrant fill out the appropriate "change of registrant" forms relinquishing the domain name to the new registrant. Of course, the current registrant does not get their money back. On top of that, the new registrant must then pay the domain name fee all over again to Internic to complete the transaction.

Therefore, unless Internic has changed the way they do business (I doubt it) the best thing might be for your company to NOT pay the registration fee. When the name goes back into the pile, re-register with the correct registrant name and THEN pay for it.

If someone knows of a better way to handle this, please let us know. Because of this double-payment fiasco I gave up trying to purchase a domain name from someone who (supposedly) accidentally registered a variant of my own domain name. So I'd be interested to hear of resolutions to this kind of problem.
