Help with windows backup needed

Hi! I used Windows backup and have 20 disks full of information. When I try to restore (after reformatting my hard drive)... i get a "disk 1 error"... HELP! Is there any way to get it going from disk 2? Anyone know a 'back door' into this???? 20 disks! YIKES!
