Here's a URL where you can download a very very fun and addictive game:
http://hotfiles.zdnet.com/cgi-bin/texis/swlib/hotfiles/info.html?fcode=000O61
(sorry I don't know how to make that a link -- anyone want to tell me?)
It's called Clickomania! and it's actually "postcardware" -- the author asks you to send him a postcard from your hometown if you like it.
The idea is to remove all the blocks from the screen, which you can do by clicking on two or more blocks of the same colour that are touching along an edge. All the touching blocks will disappear, and the blocks above will fall down. The goal is to get rid of as many blocks as possible -- all of them if you can. It's easy to learn, but very challenging. A "best scores" list will have you competing against yourself. There are lots of ways to manipulate the settings to make it harder or easier or to look the way you want it to. The program file is actually fairly small, so it's a quick download.
What are other people's favourite shareware and freeware non-violent games? We're always interested in finding new ones.
