This is a general question to all. I've been reading the different postings and trying to look at the person who posted the messages' sites, but when I click on that persons profile (some of you), it doesn't have any information. Is this a personal preferance?

I mean, these forums are an EXCELLENT way to advertise your site, why not put the information in there?

Just curious.

Hey Mike,

I think some are just in a hurry hehe yet others may be resellers and as such tend to be better off remaining anon to accomplish their day to day tasks.....

I agree though, this is a great place to advertise a bit http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Hi Mike - I like participating in forums like this but I'm always in a hurry and never take the time to fill out the rest of the registration. My name is Blake, and I am a designer, I am also a reseller but not really. Reselling simply offers me a cost effective way of taking care of that aspect for design clients. So, if you were to email me, and query hosting I would tell you thats not what we do, go to futurequest.

I dont ever list my site or any others that I have designed b/c frankly I am never happy with them. I always think I can do better.

If you wish to see what I mean you can go to cyntecmusicscape.com. There is only one page out there as I started a redesign and got flooded with work from people wanting to spend ad bucks before the end of the quarter. So I hope to have it done by feb. It sucks but its there http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif.

Sorry for the narration--

Jake,
My guess would be that your browser doesn't support javascript or its turned off or something. That could cause what you described.

Zeb,
The page looks great btw - very polished and professional.

I wasn't able to view the site in Netscape but it came through perfectly in explorer. Netscape states "Applet imagefader can't start class imagefader not found".

Good looking site though...you should list your sites...

I agree with MikeA. I always find sites I like better than my own...but I look at it sooo much that is starts looking awful to me. http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Gee.<blushing profusely>Thanks. I really appreciate it. http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Jake- Are you using Netscape? I have had a tremendously difficult time getting that JAVA to work with Netscape. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Right now Im using NS 4.5 and it works. But last week it didnt, and I havent changed anything in Netscapes prefs. I only use it for compatibility purposes. Hmmm..I started another couple of frontpages that do the same type of things but w/gifs, and a "browser dtect" script for NS,MS,AOL,Webtv,etc...I dont know.

I feel a bit better knowing you know me a little, after trolloping around the last few days looking at all of your wonderful sites in this forum..Thanks.

See, I just dont get it. Im looking at it right now with ns 4.0 and it works. Ive never seen anything like it. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. ARRGghhhhhhhhh!

I have ivested a frustratingly rediculous amount of time investigating this and have come up with no reasonable solutions...Is anyone going into "javalock" or does anyone have it just appear to never stop loading?

not that i know a whole lot on the subject.. but I wanna add my two cents worth. I have only been at this for just under a year and observed from what i was told, that if the cache and/or history was rather full, the java applets woudln't work properly. (or netscape lock up.) And one person told me that it depended on the type of system that someone was using (CPU/RAM).. but these are just things I was told. When I first got on the net, I was using a slower unit, and it did affect things just a bit. Netscape seems to be more tempermental about Java Applets than MSIE. *i have no reasonable explanation as to why*.. just something I see. (and lastly) Some people told me that when using Netscape and other applications such as AOL IM and or ICQ this type of problem would happen.

Like I said, I am very new at this. I had no problems with it. I thought your page was very nice and very professional. It was elegant in the manner that it was not cluttered. *yeah* I liked it. http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

I have a question, would modem speed or internet connections have an effect on this?

*a suggestion* if you aquired this applet from another source, I would advise you contacting that individual (or whomever) of and ask them of any bug fixes or bug reports.

Thanks again everyone..

Hearts - you are probably right about all of those things, and I would love to get ahold of the manufacturer of that app. The only thing is,..I have no clue who that might be. I have probably 300 apps on my pc and when I think one is needed I just kind of browse,...until I find a suitable one.

I am gonna guess again at something else if ya don't mind. Cuz.. truly I am very new at this. I wonder.. that java applet is a written code isn't it? So isn't there a way to open it up and see who wrote it? Or would that be a separate text file? *just curious*

No, I tried that. Generally though, yes, a java applet will have copyright information in the source code and in the class files. The only thing this thing says is Demicron 2 places ---
imagefader waitForID java/lang/InterruptedException java/lang/NumberFormatException java/applet/Applet A00012 toString (J)V !(Ljava/awt/image/ImageObserver http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gifI be specified. Contact Demicron: images (Ljava/lang/Runnable http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gifV
--- who the H is demicron is that like megatron, galvatron or unicron from transformers?

And while JAVA lang is HIGHLY flexible I really doubt that demicron is a part of a string or java subset.

But you never know. Thanks for your continued help. Im going to dig on this demicron tonight. I should at least find out if it is an autobot or decepticon http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif..

Zeb .. actually I was no help at all! http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif I don't know a thing about writing java applets. I was just using whatever common sense I have. All I was trying to do was make ya think harder! Well.. anyways.. Good luck with it.

I am rather puzzled about it myself .. cuz i don't have probs with that site.. it loaded just fine and I don't have any special technology .. just a simple modem with a crappy phone company that doesn't support 56k. http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif

hey now ZEB .. i might be clueless about writing java applets.. but do tell.. are there really winks in your code? *thinking* that could be the problem! http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif
