What I have found is that after a few months traffic will become steady. With both of my sites, at first traffic would be high one day, low the next, seemingly random (once they were in the search engines). Now, vdj.net gets a steady 400 pageviews daily (odd, since I have not updated that site in over 8 months...) and HostFacts.com gets about 750 pageviews daily on average. It's also long overdue for an update...
With both sites, traffic was a lot higher at first - new site, heavy promotion (mainly just getting shameless plugs out in public forums ;)[nbsp][nbsp]) and whatnot - but after while they just steadied out to a nice, predictable average...
Hope in some way this helps...
<edit>
To answer your question - how to keep visitors - make sure that you have something to offer them, something new each time. If your site has not changed or nothing new and exciting is there, it becomes predictable, and visitors don't feel any reason to go back to your site - they already know what to expect... this is why my traffic is relatively low on both sites. If I updated my sites daily or weekly or even just monthly, I'm sure visitors would come back - the majority of my traffic is brand new visitors...
BTW - I haven't looked at your site - the above is just ranting ideas :)

Well keep in mind a lot of search engines have had some major changes recently. I used to get a good few hundred people a day from infoseek alone now its down to a few a day :(
But thats life :(

Also, resubmitting may actually lower your traffic, as some engines rank older pages higher.

Thanx everyone![nbsp][nbsp]I do a small update on my site each week, and do a major update once a month.[nbsp][nbsp]There's always something new, and I doubt visitors would have patience to view the whole site in one visit ;) ...I wish I had the time to update it more than that, but I don't :(.

Hi![nbsp][nbsp]I would really like to know how to keep my over 13,000 per month visitors...to a particular section on my site?[nbsp][nbsp]A couple of months ago visitors increased adn now it's slowly dwindling down...I manually resubmitted my site to many search engines, but it hasn't caught on...the number of visitors is dropping like flies.
Is there some way to keep the amount of visitors strong...besides resubmitting the site to the search engines (there must be a better way!)
TIA!

Dan's correct...do not submit weekly to Altavista. The older the submission the better.
You can update your tags and rearrange them as well...
Here's some suggestions:
You currently have:
1. Your title tag, Meta 'Description' & Meta 'Keywords' too far below your <head> tag. Move them up for the smaller engines to find quicker.
2. <title>My ParenTime - Your Info Community!</title>
Suggestions:
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]A. Title tags can be up to 150 characters. Use them.
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]B. You have 0 keywords in this tag. Choose Eight[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]Keywords and your number one most important word[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]should be first in this tag.
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] I.E.- <title>Parenting: My ParenTime is information,
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] education, & entertainment for you and your child.[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]</title>
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] Goto.com shows that Parenting was searched more than
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] Parent in Nov.:
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] Parenting - 4083
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] Parent - 1804
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] Child - 10795
3. <meta NAME="description" CONTENT="We're a family community that aims to inform, educate, & entertain! Numerous resources, informative articles, hints, tips, checklists, STOP Sex Offenders, State Registry Listings & more! We have topics to interest everyone!">
Suggestions:
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]A. Meta 'Description' can have up to 250 characters.
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]B. You have very few keywords in this tag as well.
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] I.E. <META NAME="description" CONTENT="Parenting: My ParenTime is informative, educational, & entertaining for you and your child.[nbsp][nbsp]Child development is number one here at MyParenTime.">
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]Goto.com shows November search for
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] Child Development - 2632
4. <meta NAME="keywords" CONTENT="My Parentime, My ParentTime, My Parent Time, Parenting, Parents, ParenTime, Parentime, My ParenTime, My parentime, Moms, sex offenders, STOP Sex Offenders, offenders, child molester, molesters, abuse, safety, child predators, predators, Helpful Hints, Tips, and Checklists, Calculators, Online Typing Test, American Sign Language Alphabet, Create and Learn HTML,
stay-at-home moms, SAHM, pregnancy, pregnant, baby, babies,
children, child, information, info, health, men, women, breastfeeding, nursing, education, educational, sites, fun, fundamental, games, beanie babies, beanies, awards, informed site award, mall, store, gift, gifts, cards, greeting cards, software, books, music, work, business, childcare, trivia, TRIVIA, Trivia, online trivia, trivia contests, free trivia, trivia prizes">
LOTS 'o' changes with this one...
Suggestions:
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]A. Keywords shouldn't have more than 1024 characters.
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]B. You should never have one word within 7 words of
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] itself or you'll be penalized.
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]C. Save some of the keywords for your subpages.[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]Optimizing them will increase your visibility all
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] over the engines...
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]D. This isn't always agreed on, but I use it...if you
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] nix the ','commas, you can get more words in on the
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] count.
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] I.E. <meta NAME="keywords" CONTENT="parents moms children child abuse pregnancy pregnant baby babies breastfeeding nursing education fundamental"> [can add from there]
5. Page Suggestions:
[nbsp][nbsp] A. Use the Keywords in your links, especially towards
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]the top of the page. I.E. Parenting
[nbsp][nbsp] B. Use your main keywords as the first word in your
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]alternate image tags. I.E. "Child Developement: My
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]Parentime"
[nbsp][nbsp] C. Use the keywords in your comment tags
6. 'My ParenTime' is NOT your main keyword. If it were, you wouldn't need to optimize your site for the engines. Keywords are the words people actually type in to find your site in the engines. For the most part, they don't know you exist so they won't type in the site's title. That's brand marketing which does not include search engine search in the beginning of that marketing campaign. [but that's a whole 'nother story :)]
This should be a good start for you.
Let me know if you have any questions.
With Much Peace,
Elizabeth
