Here's the situation. I used the meta tag generator here at FQ several months ago, submitted, got high listings in all the biggies and was happy as a clam. The site, www.pugzone.com (http://www.pugzone.com) has grown a lot and I changed the design as well using tables for layout, and adding a little poll taking java scipt. Not being the type to leave well enough alone, I figured it would be good to resubmit so it accurately reflected the new content on my site.

So I used the same exact meta tags and resubmitted about 6 weeks ago using Submit It...6 weeks later, I've been listed on some (Altavista, Webcrawler) but not others (Excite, Infoseek, Lycos etc), and where I am listed I've dropped from the first or second page to the 18th or 19th page.

Now I hear that tables sometimes interfere with getting decent rankings, and that my poll script might also interfere..Something about both objects pushing the first few lines of content too far down the page?

Any words of wisdom, suggestions, ideas or miracle cream that will help me grow back the hair I've pulled out would be greatly appreciated.

Mel

From my reading of other forums I think a few of the search engines you mention are continually changing the way they index.[nbsp][nbsp]So what is a great way to get ranked 2 weeks ago, doesn't work now.[nbsp][nbsp]Also some of the search engines are now listing directories before search results.[nbsp][nbsp]Seems as though the best directory to get listed in is dmoz.org

For more info. I'd suggest you read the boards at searchengineforums.com

HI!,
[nbsp]I have tried to register my site on AOL, but I keep getting a response that they are not accepting submissions in this area at this time, and to go try to register in another area. I have also tried this and been recieving the same messages![nbsp][nbsp]Is there sa trick to AOL that i am missing?[nbsp][nbsp]Thanks, James
