View Full Version : Adding Your Banner To AOTA.net Free [Take 3]
This is yet another reminder thread that anyone hosted on the FutureQuest servers may have their banner ad included in the random banner rotations that appear on the top and bottom of the pages at http://www.aota.net
If you would like your banner included simply place the link to the image file (on your domain) and the link you would like it pointed to here and I will get your ad included.
Deb
p.s. if you would like your link added to http://www.FutureQuest.net/List.php please let me know the short text description you would like with it.

Boy, mine was added to http://www.FutureQuest.net/List.php without having to ask! But could you capitalize the B in MJBlue and use the following text:
Official Web site of Michael Johnson: Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist & Recording Artist.
Thanks Deb!

Deb,
[nbsp]COuld you please add my banner into the rotation on AOTA
http://www.taxgone.com/banner.jpg
Thanks,
Wayne
Hiya Wayne,
I'll need you to shave a bit off of that one before I can add it.[nbsp][nbsp]We need to keep them to 470 X 60 at most...
Let me know once the size is taken down a bit.
Deb
[nbsp]-- p.s. glad you made it to the forums ;)

Hey Deb... just a slight suggestion.[nbsp][nbsp]I was just roving around here and decided to check out the http://www.FutureQuest.net/List.php page.[nbsp][nbsp]Perhaps it could be alphabetized.[nbsp][nbsp]The order seems too random or could be percieved as organized by quality or something arbituary.[nbsp][nbsp]I know that's not the case; just saying.
sorry to pester... too much procrasinating time on my hands..lol
It's all totally random with the only "order" being that I try to keep the links between images even.. right now it's five links between each image...
The links area is something that's been on my mind a lot this week (Justin as my witness) I'm considering setting up yet another search directory on the web... maybe I'll steal the script Justin created for his site and use it on FQuest's site just don't tell him if I do ;)

I personally think that alphabetical order is done too much now days. What about reverse alphabetical order? <evil grin> :)

Search directory?[nbsp][nbsp]Not sure intent there but hey.[nbsp][nbsp]Was just thinking out loud.
Realized after posting that an alphabetical order would put my site near top (starts with A). This may mean I get more of those annoying how do you like FutureQuest e-mails from those considering FQ....so strike that idea. http://www.arcanumcafe.com/ubb/evilgrin.gif[nbsp][nbsp]LOL, teasing!! http://www.arcanumcafe.com/ubb/evilhalo.gif

Deb, I posted this originally around the time (I think) that you were moving, so I'm wondering if you just missed it?[nbsp][nbsp]
Thanks,

Nope, as far as I can tell they are all still there.. we did convert to Justin's banner script but that's the only change... PsychFind.com is still in the rotation as well as djweb and splitangels...

Hmm... some tremendous banners there.[nbsp][nbsp]Is this offer going to remain open for some time?[nbsp][nbsp]I don't dare submit my banner until it meets some quality standards :)
Also, I noticed a couple of things - banners which are always on the top part of the page will stay there, and a corresponding banner will always be at the bottom - in other words, they appear at the same time everytime.[nbsp][nbsp]Is it just me or was this the idea in the first place?
It used to just go in order.... but the new script seems to be totally random.... I may pester Justin a bit to make a couple of enhancements ;)
As far as having your banner included... Yes, as long as AOTA.net is up and running.. FQ Site Owners will be able to have their banners included.
Whenever you're ready just let us know ;)

Tell ya what, that was a fast reply IMHO :)[nbsp][nbsp]Also, someone upgraded me from visitor to site owner within the past hour, so you guys are really on the ball, and most appreciated!
Let me work on my banner a bit more, as well as the site LOL.[nbsp][nbsp]I had a nice banner ruined by the lousy output capability of Flash 3, so I gotta do some rework, maybe in Fireworks.[nbsp][nbsp]Next thing is keeping the filesize down... btw do you have an upper limit on filesize?[nbsp][nbsp]468x60 may not be awfully big but an animated GIF can blow that thing up real quick - even at just 8 colors!
Thanks for the quick reply and great support ;)

Hi Tedloh,
In the previous thread asking for banners for the aota.net rotations,
http://www.aota.net/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000015.html
Deb said:
Right now there are no strict specs on it except:
[nbsp][nbsp]1. It must look like a banner... long and thin
[nbsp][nbsp]2. I'd like them to be under 15k
As long as you are within 'normal' sizes for a banner ad you're good to go
I hear ya on keeping the file size down for an animated gif.[nbsp][nbsp]I think that's probably the biggest challenge![nbsp][nbsp]I used the Animation Shop that came with PSP5, so if you're using the same and are having some problems with it, email me and I can share what I've figured out so far.
Best of luck with it, and hey, welcome to FQ, too.

Well thanks, Bekariso :)[nbsp][nbsp]I used to use some other program (was AniGIF or something like that) that used to be pretty good.[nbsp][nbsp]Then I discovered Flash for all sorts of fun stuff, spent a few weeks on that... left it for a while, went back and discovered it makes lousy GIFS.[nbsp][nbsp]So perhaps time for another Discovery Tour... running simultaneously with CGI Discovery Tour, WebAdverts DT, Mailing List DT, Autoresponder DT... etc LOL!
Let you know if I discover a real gem out there - thanks again for the welcome and advice :)
