Terra,
Do Future Quest ever envisage having an OC3 connection ? http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

A dedicated OC-3, I seriously doubt it due to the monthly cost... $85,000+ / month (UUnet)

It would be nice though... http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif

We do have plans in Mid 1999 to move our servers to a dual-SONET OC-12'd NOC in Orlando, FL... Being built now, and will be state-of-the-art... We will purchase our bandwidth in Fractional T-3 allotments of liquid bandwidth with burstable capability...

As an aside: For hosting companies that claim to have an OC-3 - ask them if they own it, or are they sharing it with a thousand others... *evil grin*

It's sickening at times, to see all the marketing hype that other hosting companies play on unsuspecting customers, that just don't know/understand all the details about high-speed digital lines... They place the notion that a T-1 is equivalent to the 300baud modems of yesteryear - and that's just plain hogwash...

I do know that one of the **larger** Hosting companies (8800+) domains, is running their operation quite well on the 9 dedicated T-1's that they own...

I know what FutureQuest needs to meet bandwidth requirements, and will deliver as such... http://www.aota.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

This would be an interesting addition to the FAQ or tech support documentation... exposing the myths and hype of Web hosting.

Andrew,
Couldn't agree with you more. There are so many hosting companies out there making all sorts of claims. It's nice to get a straightforward and honest reply for a change http://www.aota.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
