QuestMail has caused serious instability issues with the NINE server and has proven to be buggy.[nbsp][nbsp]We have been forced to remove QuestMail for the time being.

For those who need a way to check their email via the web ... The following are some places you may do so at. (Those who know of others .. please post them here).

http://www.mollymail.com/email.fcgi
(Same software as QuestMail)

http://www.mailstart.com/
(Site Owner Recommended)

http://mail.yahoo.com/
http://www.HotMail.com/
(I believe HotMail and Yahoo still allow external POP3 checks?)

Again sorry to hear about questmail :(

Yes, http://mail.yahoo.com/ does handle POP3 checks with the ability to acually check 3 different servers and what looks to be unlimited POP3's.[nbsp][nbsp]It does have a 3MG limit however.[nbsp][nbsp]For lots of folks that may not be an issue ever, while maybe for others it will. Just giving a heads up on that one.

There has been an issue with Yahoo recently regarding verifying users ages yadda yadda ..... (meaning that in some cases they were asking for credit card info to verify things but I didn't find that to be the case as yet in using them).

I've tried out a few of the recommended options.[nbsp][nbsp]Here's my experience thus far:

MollyMail - works well except for one little quirk...[nbsp][nbsp]About two out of three emails don't have the message, only a header![nbsp][nbsp]:(

pop3now - incredibly slow (at the moment, at least), but the messages are actually part of the email...[nbsp][nbsp]What are they connected with, a 1 bps modem?

MailStart - looks to work well, as long as you don't mind scrolling a whole page past ads.

I suppose I can try setting up my Yahoo/Rocketmail account to check POP mail; that might be easiest...

So far I've found http://mail.yahoo.com/ very responsive. I have also gone and checked out http://www.HotMail.com/ and played a little.[nbsp][nbsp]Trouble with HotMail seems to be that you can only have 4 POP3's :( (unless I missed something). That, with who it's tied to gives me enough reason to use other options since there are many available.

So far I haven't incurred any problems with mollymail but will keep an eye peeled.

I know that it's a bit disconcerting right now to have QM gone but rest assured that FutureQuest will indeed continue moving forward on this issue to find a resolution.

Anyone who wants a guinea pig to test other options let me know, I'll be glad to assist wherever I can :)

Here's yet another option for those of you who are still looking/playing with what will work best for you.[nbsp][nbsp]http://mail2web.com/ Everyone is different so no one's likes/options will be the same.

https://www.mail2web.com/sindexadv.html
(this is their secure and advanced log-in page that seemed to work best for me but there are other options with them)

G'Luck :)

I frequently use http://mailreader.com
and I am quite happy with it.

Netscape webmail http://webmail.netscape.com
also has a unique feature. You can setup upto 5 pop3 emails to be collected every hour or everyday automatically.
In hotmail and Yahoo mail you have do this manually.

I just ran accross this as another option for QuestMail. :)

So far of all that I've tried this was just a lucky catch I think cuz it's really great IMO :P

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Are there any updates on the improved web-based email system that Futurequest is working on? I hope the new system will not be as buggy as the old questmail system :)

If you are still looking, check out the incredible features at
http://www.ureach.com
It is a powerful communications suite that I have been using for about 8 months.[nbsp][nbsp]It seems that each week I find something new this service will do for me.

I decided to try Ureach after reading your message, but having trouble receiving my mail. Do you have to do anything different to receive your pop3 email on ureach. It will not work for me.

Well, after trying about half the services (hotmail, yahoo, heyemail, and ureach) - and discovering that I already had an account at ureach, I have come to the conclusion that ureach stands out above the rest - it is fast and efficient and was able to retrieve all my mail, unlike any of the others except myemail (which was slow).

Thanks for the reminder, reger!

Once you have logged in, go to Options, then click on External Mail.

Enter the required information, then after that either choose the Retrieve Mail button from that screen or on the left select Get External Mail.

If anyone is still following this thread, do any of the suggestions allow you to have the msg sent from your accounts here?[nbsp][nbsp](My problem is my current dialups block port 25, preventing this.)[nbsp][nbsp]Do any of the free dialups have port 25 open?
I have an account on Hotbot (got in just before they closed signups), and it's great for checking mail, I can set reply to any account I want, but the send is from there.<!-- NO_AUTO_LINK -->

You can send mail from Molly Mail.
http://www.mollymail.com

It is for checking AND <font color=#FF0000>sending</font> mail. You will be able to set the from:field to whatever domains you are allowed to send from FutureQuest. It is just like QuestMail. It's written by the same company.

I also had a POP account for a short time with BlueHome.net. It was great for sending mail from them, with any address in the from:field that I wanted. However, I imagine you will not be able to do that if your ISP is blocking port 25. I'm not sure. Perhaps you could try.

Otherwise, I suppose I would try to find another ISP or get a free account, with someone like Juno or NetZero or someone like that would allow me to use port 25.

Or try this list of possible web based e-mail providers.
http://www.emailaddresses.com/email_checkpop.htm
[nbsp]Several of them also allow you to send mail.

Thanks for the tips.[nbsp][nbsp]I'm trying to get the college's IT guy to open port 25 for me, that would be the easiest solution (for me, anyway).[nbsp][nbsp]If not, I'll take a look at the suggested freebies.

(Unfortunately, my German is pretty much limited to ordering beer and asking where the bathroom is...)

For those with Macs, there is a great little freeware program (called Frogslapper) that checks if you have any mail in your POP server account (up to 99 of them!). Frogslapper doesn't download the mail or tell you the subject and it doesn't work with hotmail accounts, but it is FAST and saves you the bother of opening up Mollymail or Ureach if there is no mail there.

It also has the best &quot;About&quot; box I've seen (or maybe that should read &quot;heard&quot;) anywhere. It's worth it just for that &quot;About&quot; box to be honest.

Is Questmail officially dead? I saw that Futurequest has removed it from the list of features on the web page.

Nope, QuestMail is not officially dead .... lets just say it's still on vacation for a tune up. :)

I think you'll find http://www.aota.net/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000383-1.html usefull in finding more information.
