View Full Version : Success! The New Server Is Now On-Line!
What more can I say then what is already said in the topic of this message? http://www.aota.net/ubb//smile.gif http://www.aota.net/ubb//smile.gif http://www.aota.net/ubb//smile.gif
The FQuest server was taken down, as per our earlier warnings, around 1:15 am and was back up by 3am.
Everything seems to be running along just fine with room to expand http://www.aota.net/ubb//smile.gif
We've had less then 20 minutes to watch this *g* but all in all I think the upgrade will be noticed and was certainly needed!
Thanks to all of you for hanging in there with us through this last week.... I know it was hectic.
FutureQuest has got to have the absolute BEST site owners on the net!!!!
Thanks all
Happy Turkey Day for those of you who celebrate this holiday for thanks.

Hi,
good to hear that everything is fine. I hope you get some now that the new server is in place. Would you mind sharing some details on the new hardware?

please tell me all your findings. I found that zipping my work only saves about half the time http://www.aota.net/ubb//smile.gif

Would you mind sharing some details on the new hardware?
PII-400
Tyan Tiger 100
256mb pc_100 SDRAM ECC
14gig UDMA Drives
20gig Tape Backup
3Com 'Boomerang' Fast Ethernet
We will be adding a second cpu to this, and I will be recompiling the Linux system to enable SMP capability...
Also planned is another 256mb ram as well... The memory is lotsa $$$$$$$$... http://www.aota.net/ubb//redface.gif
This new server should hold us for another 3 to 4 months, before adding another server... I will be waiting for the .18 micron release of the AMD K-7 800Mhz processor (Dual cpu SMP capable) for the next server with 1 gig and 2 gig pc_200 memory capable...
Ummm, how fast did you want to go??? http://www.aota.net/ubb//smile.gif

I use fractal compression technology, that excels at crunching repetitivness into inverse infinity..

Woohoo! So glad to hear it! Take Sandy's advice, go get some rest! Have a party! At least take some time and do something special for yourselves that doesn't involve any puter!
You're the greatest, and we really appreciate you!
