Tonight around 1:00am -- The server will need to cycle a system reboot for a Linux Kernel emergency upgrade...
Problem: Too many open filehandles
Solution: I have been working on patching the Linux Kernel, so that I can adjust the requirements realtime - instead of having to recompile the kernel everytime this limitation is encountered... This goes way beyond the simple adjustment in "limits.h", which has a --realistic-- maximum limit of 1024 handles... The patches that are being made will increase the capacity to 3000 while preserving the lower level '/dev' Major/Minor limits as well...
FutureQuest is growing - and this is one of the many adjustments that we are making to better serve the FQuest community at large...
We apologize for any downtime that this will cause... If you are logged in via Telnet/SSH -- there will be a 10 minute warning before the system reboots...
Expected Time: 12 minutes
