I'm not sure this is the best place to pose this question, but what the heck, it's a start. I'm on the hunt for a new host for my site, and came across FutureQuest.[nbsp][nbsp]Man, this place sounds like heaven! I've even searched the web looking for some dirt, can't find anything but raves.

Ok, on to the question.[nbsp][nbsp]The site I'm setting up will be a subscription based site, and I need a system where new users can sign up, pay up, and get a login issued immediately to access the members only section. I'm looking at a CGI script called Account Manager Pro to handle all the user login stuff.[nbsp][nbsp]I've found with my current host, that I'm unable to properly set permissions to get the thing to run.[nbsp][nbsp]It's kindof like Disneyland over there, you can't get real shell access to do chmod's and that stuff, and their support is, well, um, let's be poitive now, they do answer the phone.

I still haven't gotten to the question, have I?[nbsp][nbsp]OK, here tiz - is anyone running Account Manager Pro, or Account Manager Lite (free verision) on the FutureQuest servers?[nbsp][nbsp]Or, do you have any suggestions for similar scripts?

Thanks!

Jeff

I don't have any personal knowledge of Account Manager, but I can tell you that you would have full chmod abilities over your files, via Telnet or FTP (if your FTP program supports chmod). Unless it has some odd requirements, there should not be a problem - we have a large Perl library, with nearly all of the most common libraries/modules installed, and of course we do take suggestions for modules that are not installed...

Hope this helps with your decision, and welcome to the forums :)

Wow, that was quick, I'm liking this place!

Here's a copy of their program requirements, does anything in here set off any alarms?

1. Perl 5
Version 5 Perl compiler. Contact your serveradministrator if you are unsure if this is included on your server.

2. .htaccess or .nsconfig capabilities
These are used to protect your directories. 99% of all UNIX servers include .htaccess. Not all NT server software has this capability. Contact your server administrator if you are unsure. Note: Account Manager Pro is NOT compatible with NT IIS WebServers or O'Reilly's WebSite due to this requirement. Please make sure your NT WebServer supports .htaccess or .nsconfig.

3. secure server on same machine
(if providing online payment options)In order to keep your customers credit card information secure, the secure server certificate must be installed on the same machine as the
program. Contact your server administrator if you are unsure.

4. mail requirements
Account Manager requires BLAT mail for use with the NT version and Sendmail with the UNIX version in order to properly use any of the program mailing features.

Thanks again for your prompt response!

The above items are basic requirements that just about any Unix server would of course already be set up for - in other words, there should not be a problem running the above on our servers :)

Hope this helps.
