View Full Version : The Table from Heck!
I had a thread going in Gen'l HTML Help late last week about a centering problem in a contrary and uncooperative table. It won't work in IE (PCs only! It looks fine on a Mac with both browsers).
Everybody eventually got bored with that thread (or maybe it was my lousy coding!)... I've spent today recreating the page, and I'm hoping that those of you with PCs using IE 4 will look at my page and tell me what you see.(I know I need to get a PC; I'm working on it :) !) NS-user input is welcome as well, but last week it did work in NS 4+, but I suppose things could've changed...
This page has two screen shots of what it's supposed to look like, and has a link to the page I'm having trouble with: http://www.bluehillsdesign.com/FQuest/sftables.htm
Thanks a million---again!

I made a screen shot of it in IE 4.72 and posted it here:

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Sheila---that's how it's supposed to line up. Did you happen to run your mouse over the "About Us," "What's New," and all of those things in blue on the left? I saw a problem with three of the image swaps in Mac IE, and can't for the life of me figure out what's going on.
(BTW, don't worry about hurting my feelings on the look of the page; I'm not particularly fond of it myself, but...!)
Thanks!

I checked it out in IE5 and it looks fine, all the image swaps work. I'm on a PC with a 15" monitor.

Mouseovers appear to be working. Each word gets a light "halo" of diffused white surrounding it?

On IE5 it worked fine...[nbsp][nbsp]Same on Netscape, but the bottom button was offset to the left about two or three pixels for some reason.[nbsp][nbsp]In both browsers, the title for the mouseover table was offset to the right about a pixel.
Sheila -- Yeah, the mouseover effect is a white "glow" around the words.
Charles -- I stuck in a
tag after that last "Career Opportunities" graphic. Did that make it line up for you? And the one that's to the right a pixel--is that the grey "streamfeeder.com" thing? I messed with that a little now; did it make any difference?

Man, I need a PC! (Oh, I can't believe I said that!) :)
Thanks--I really appreciate your help, everyone! Can't wait to get this durn project over with...

I use IE 5 on a PC and the first page looked fine.[nbsp][nbsp]
Perhaps you are still putting the page together, but FYI:
The navigation bar images did not load on any pages, except the index page.
The two links in the text on the "what's new" page (applications and tech support) were broken.
The "product jump" image (over the drop down list) did not load on any pages except the index page.
I didn't try them all, but of the selections from the drop down list that I did try - all were broken links.
Hope this helps.

Paul---thanks for poking around in the site. Maybe I should have said earlier that the format of the index.htm page is going to be applied to the rest of the site pages, and thus the broken links and missing graphics on the remainder of the pages. (I went and did some housekeeping of the graphics I knew I wasn't going to be using once the home page was in working order.)
The "Product Jump" pull-down menu doesn't work right now because I coded in the absolute URLs in anticipation of the site moving to its permanent home--per a discussion sometime back here in these forums re: absolute vs. relative URLs.
(And I can't talk them into moving to FQuest! :( Actually, they'd like to, but they need about 200 email addresses, and are getting them cheap where they are.)
I appreciate everyone's help in looking at the page! I'll get myself a PC one of these days, and will be able to check this stuff out for myself....:)
