I have just setup UBB (the licensed version), and carefully followed all of the instructions.[nbsp][nbsp]I came to a problme with changing the URL's in cplinks.html.[nbsp][nbsp]Both sets of directions I have (including the one specific to FutureQuest) say something a little different.
What I did:[nbsp][nbsp]For example, in the first one I changed
<font color=#FF0000>cpanel.cgi?action=variables</font>
to
<font color=#FF0000> http:
//xchildpastlives.futurequest.net/ubb/cpanel.cgi?action=variables</font>
But the links don't work when I go to .../ubb/cp.html.[nbsp][nbsp]I get the 404 message.
Suggestions?
My URL for now is:
xchildpastlives.futurequest.net
By the way, I'm installing both Discus and UBB to test side-by-side.[nbsp][nbsp]I got Discus running all by myself.[nbsp][nbsp]:-)[nbsp][nbsp]The installation of UBB, except for this glitch, was easier and less tedious.

Try:
http://xchildpastlives.futurequest.net/cgi-bin/ubb/cpanel.cgi?action=variables
What I always do in the cplinks.html file is just change all the links to:
<a href="/cgi-bin/ubb/blah.cgi">
I don't understand why they don't do that in the first place, as this would keep 99% of users from having to even edit it... I don't know though - ask Ted I guess...
Anyway that would work even after your domain propogates too.

Okay, I'm making progress.[nbsp][nbsp]I got it to get me into the variables link.[nbsp][nbsp]I filled out the General Variables and the system accepted that.[nbsp][nbsp]Then I carefully filled out Styles variables -- and UBB refuses to recognize my username, which is the default Admin5.[nbsp][nbsp]I haven't changed any usernames or passwords, and I did find the Admin5 file in .../Members and even uploaded a new copy of it.[nbsp][nbsp]No luck.
Also, FWIW, when I click on "your board" I get a blank page, but see in the title bar that .../ubb/index.html has been invoked.[nbsp][nbsp]I confirmed in the directory that index.html is empty.
Now what do I do.[nbsp][nbsp]I truly appreciate your help, because I'm excited about getting this to work.[nbsp][nbsp]This is one of the first times I've tried to install any cgi program, and I was so happy that I got this far.

The /ubb/index.html is supposed to be blank - this is not what you need to access to get to the board. The URL to the board would be:
http://xchildpastlives.futurequest.net/cgi-bin/ubb/Ultimate.cgi
In cplinks.html you should just use relative paths again:
<a href="/cgi-bin/ubb/Ultimate.cgi">
to avoid having to change it when your domain propogates. As for the URL's in the variables section, you can just use the full URL and edit it once the domain name is active.
When you submitted your General variables, did you get a page telling you that your variables were set or a blank page? If you got a blank page then you may have a path incorrect (and without the path being right it will not know where to look for the file for Admin5).
Let me know if this helps.

Justin,
I don't know what I did, but it worked this time.[nbsp][nbsp]Funny thing is, I don't think I changed anything.[nbsp][nbsp]I just went to dinner and came back and it worked!
Thanks for your help.[nbsp][nbsp]I'm sure I'll be back with another question or two before I get this all working.
