My apologies, this was supposed to be in the "Is the UBB any good" conversation.

Hiya folks, I am the author of WWWThreads at www.wwwthreads.org (http://www.wwwthreads.org). I think I have dropped by this site before after checking my refer logs.[nbsp][nbsp]Once again I saw some traffic coming from here so I figured I would check it out.

I see one big concern from some users considering switching over to WWWThreads is many users like the familiar interface of UBB.[nbsp][nbsp]Luckily one of WWWThreads user's sent me a couple of interace changes so now in the config and in the user's profile there is a setting to have the post headers to the top or to the side( UBB like).

Anyhow, sorry for butting in the conversation, but I just figured everyone might want to know that the real strength of WWWThreads comes in the user's profiles, as they have control over almost all of the layout options.

And changing the colors of the design is just a matter of editing a few variables in the config file.

Well, I've plugged my program and hopefully didn't make to many of you mad by intruding.[nbsp][nbsp]So with that, I will say ciao.

Hello Scream,

I really do like WWWThreads better than the UBB - and I honestly don't know why I chose UBB for my personal site other than the fact that, by the time I found WWWThreads, I had already modified the heck out of the UBB (even added private messages afterwords - an idea I kinda borrowed from WWWThreads :))

Once I can get MySQL to work with Perl on my local machine I will consider using it though - I do like the coding MUCH better than what I've seen in the UBB - the difference is like night and day :D (You might want to show Ted where his TAB key is lol). Your code is neatly indented and very well commented.

Thanks for coming by - it's nice to hear feedback from the author of a great script :)

Justin,

[nbsp][nbsp]Hey, no need to explain.[nbsp][nbsp]I perfectly understand not wanting to throw away invested time.[nbsp][nbsp]Basically I was just posting because some people get www.wwwthreads.org (http://www.wwwthreads.org) confused with www.wwwthreads.com (http://www.wwwthreads.com).[nbsp][nbsp]The latter is a hosting service that offers WWWThreads hosting, but they are still running an older version.[nbsp][nbsp]And some people don't take the time to look at all the options, and I wanted them to know that it can be setup totally different than the way I am running it.
