The article is accurate and correct...[nbsp][nbsp]It's a huge problem on the internet and my belief is that Apache or other Web servers should NOT allow this 'no-slash' kludge...

Spreading the word is the key, as I admit I didn't realize the low-level interaction until I started designing and optimizing Apache web servers...

Hmmm... off the top of my head - search for 'slash lazy'...

Terra touched on this recently but I'll be darned if I can find it.[nbsp][nbsp]Anyway, this is a good page that 'splains why, unless your homepage URL ends with a file name (like index.php or index.shtml), that the last slash is muy importante!
