Could there be a CGI monitoring "strange" incoming e-mails like

A): big, from unknown addresses, undesireable words in the subject line, or where the addressee is not in the domain where the mailbox is (with my previous provider I used to get mails sent to "nobody@nowhere.com", or simply with no=zero recepients)

B) A CGI that takes those mails out of the incoming mail area, transfer them to an FTP predefine place

C) -A CGI- that then sends an e-mail to the addresee -or to the webmaster if there is no addresee or doesn't exist in that domain- informing that there is something at the predefined FTP site with From, TO, size, Date, subject, waiting to be downloaded or deleted...

???, any suggestion?

What you seek is called 'procmail'...

To learn more about this powerful frontend mail filter, just telnet in and type $man procmail

You have much to learn... http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif

There are also several places on the net that has procmail receipes that you can hunt down...

This is a **very** powerful tool, and as such - has a mild learning curve to it... FutureQuest is fully outfitted with procmail, so feel free to utilize it...

Sidenote: You do *not* have access to your mail spool, for CGI scripts to access... You can however, write CGI scripts that utilize POP commands to access the box...

Best of luck on your journey, as I cannot personally train you to use this powertool...

It's fine, it's enough for me that you gide me on where I should go and study about the topic. I downloaded a telnet program to be able to get the info on PROCMAIL, and I have it with me. I haven't read it yet, but mean while, is this tool something to what I can give instructions to work on my mail box, or do I need to telnet on the PROCMAIL every time I want some job done.

Now that you let me know how behind I'm in my learning, do you have a list of topics a webmaster should study to perform a decent job?, I'm a commodities businessman, but the same way people like to do crosswords or chess, for time passing, I like to configure my site to give better services to my clients. Did you see the random "Phrase of the day" at my site?, refresh it to get new "Phrases" or mainly jokes. http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif Thanks
