I have no problem with being identified with New York, I may even move there and from a fashion marketing standpoint it's way better than Orlando. But how did this location get into the system?

I was wondering this awhile back when I saw that location attached to my server's IPs. :dunno:

I did a business search at these three sites:
http://www.sos.state.co.us/biz/BusinessEntityCriteriaExt.do
http://www.sunbiz.org/corinam.html
http://appsext8.dos.state.ny.us/corp_public/corpsearch.entity_search_entry
And couldn't find an active entry for FutureQuest. So not only are they in NY, they're also nowhere.

GeoIP is not an exact science... :(
My home RoadRunner IP, when I was in Oviedo FL, showed me in New York as well... :(
This one gets it right:
http://www.maxmind.com/
(punch in the IP address)
as does this one:
http://www.geoiptool.com/en/?IP=69.5.8.251
Looks like this is a problem with whois.domaintools.com

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought of that as a possibility but a New York connection would have been intriguing too. :)
Since arin shows the ip authority as florida and that wouldn't work for large ISPs, I guess domaintools must look at the route to the actual IP to make their geo-guess? I notice some older sites on FutureQuest show on domaintools as Florida, so I'm out of guesses...

Huh. Pretty sure DomainTools said Florida in the past, but now I'm seeing NY too...
<conspiracy> Maybe it has something to do with Hillary and those half-size Florida delegates: "All your state are belong to us." </conspiracy>
