Just a question for my own comfort; I spent a lot of time finding ways to be lazy (Here should be a smilie in a hammock, couldn't find one)

I regularly log in and check for new threads or posts. The forum page nicely shows what new threads or unread posts there are, including changing the color of the diamond once I have read all threads in a topic (nice touch).

As can be expected, some of these thread lines are completely out of my interest (at least at this time). Is there a way to flag a thread or topic as "not interested in" so they do not pop up in the "new posts" list every time?

Alternatively, can I mark them as "read all posts in this thread" without really having to do so?

What I am looking for is something like the opposite of the "subscribe to thread" option. Now I just click on a topic and go to the last page so the thread-posts disappear from the list of new posts.

Like I said, no big deal, just asking

You can mark a entire forum as read using the Forum Tools drop-down menu. But I don't see an easy way to mark an individual thread without actually opening it. :ytthink:

And in either case, any new activity would pop those threads back into the New Posts list anyway. Maybe there's a vB hack somewhere for "Ignore Thread"?

(When I saw "forum comfort," my brain tried to turn it into "comfort food." I guess I'm getting hungry. :clown:)

Hi Randall
Just coming back from a very good trout on garlic dinner :ytshark:

Did not fully appreciated your "entire forum" remark and tried it out. Oops, :blah: my mistake, too quick, really everything went to "read" status.

Which brings me to a language question. Do we have one forum with 3 (for FQ site owners) + 15 (general) topic lines, each of them with their own different threads or do we have 18 forums (fora?)? I always thought that the whole bunch together was the forum :umm:

Whatever, what I need is under quick links another option like "mark forum read" without the plural "s", setting one forum-topic to "read".

For the rest, each and all of you, have a nice weekend.

In my browser I have two bookmarks one for show all new posts. And the other for mark everything read. I never don't tend to think about which forum/grouping/whatever it is. If it has a title of interest it gets scanned. Occasionally I get it in the wrong order and then I have to find a way to see what might be interesting. Usually show all postings in the last day works for me.

Drill down into a specific forum, like Questions & Suggestions (http://www.aota.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5), and look for the Forum Tools menu on the right side, below the main menu bar. There you'll see "Mark This Forum Read."

It should be easier to find than it is. Whether the Quick Links menu can be made context aware or not, I don't know.

And yes, people generally call these the Aota/FQ forums, plural.
