First off, I made NO changes to my email settings.
All of a sudden, Outlook can't connect to my POP server. I just don't get it. :umm:
Any ideas?

Hi di_bear,
In Outlook, the error code it provides will often help to determine the problem. But, in general, some things to check include:
Reviewing the account settings in your email software just to be sure they have not been changed and are correct.
Checking to be sure your ISP is not blocking access to outside servers on port 110 or intercepting the connection, forcing your mail connections through their own POP server:
http://service.FutureQuest.net/kb164
Check any anti-virus or firewall applications to be sure those are not interfering with your access. You may need to temporarily disable them to confirm.
If you still experience problems, we would suggest contacting us through the Service Desk (http://service.futurequest.net/index.php?_a=tickets&_m=submit) and provide all of the following information to allow us to help you troubleshoot:
domain:
email account:
username:
password:
pop server:
smtp server:
Authentication Method:
*The above do need to be the exact settings in your email client (Outlook).*
error message:
error code:
email client:
ISP:
Anti-Virus:
In the interim, you should be able to access the account using QuestMail:
http://QuestMail.FutureQuest.net
(Login using your full email address and the password for that email account.)
Please let us know,
Melissa

di_bear, on my PC I've found that after McAfee receives updates, it sometimes "burps" when retrieving emails with Outlook and that a reboot is necessary even if McAfee doesn't ask to do so. It usually hangs asking for a user ID/password.
Also, sometimes Outlook (I have 2003) just needs to be closed and restarted when it starts showing an error message on the bottom right after retrieving emails. If you have Microsoft's Activesync running, Outlook really never closes unless Activesync is shut down.
See http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?t=23534 if you're using Comcast.
