Hello,

I'm having an interesting thing happen with my shopping cart vendor, Miva. They need to log in both with FTP and SSH to do their portion of the installation. Apparently they have no problem with FTP, but SSH gets 'connection reset by peer' I believe. Do I need to have you allow a specific IP address so that they can SSH in? The IP of the tech support person is 203.197.202.251 I assume that after installation that address could then be re-excluded, if that is indeed what is happening. I've verified that they're using the correct username/password, so that's not it.

Regards,

Aaron

Hello Aaron,

It appears that the IP you indicated was blocked on the server your domain is on due to multiple incorrect or illegal shell login attempts as described here:

We have unblocked this IP at this time. You do need to make sure that your contractor is using the correct username/password and cASe and is very careful in accessing.

Thanks a bunch, and thanks for being proactive with the rampant brute-force SSH attacks too -- that's a good thread.

I'll (again) be sure Miva is using the correct username/password, and should they get blocked again I'll send a mail to the help desk.

Aaron
