After reading this thread,

http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?t=9009&highlight=log+analysis+program

I visted my log stats and began scrolling down the list, and came across several instances of visits to my grass cutting site from a forum in Germany, I think (don't know the language). A guy on there has been using a pictures that I took of a close-up picture of a John Deere logo on my tractor that I use on that website. He's been using the pic by linking to the pic. Anyway, I renamed the pic, replaced the pic with one of the same file name, that he and others members of that forum may find somewhat embarassing. I'm going to keep an eye on the forum to see how long it takes him to change the avitar. Fun and games...

Regards, Paul.

I have gotten a kick out of doing that a few times myself however there are two things you need to be aware of when you do that...

1. Your replacement image would need to fall within the boundaries of our Terms of Service. For instance if you used a pornographic image to embarrass them you would be in violation of our TOS.

2. If you used that image file name within one of your web pages then it is possible that people viewing a cached copy may get the new image instead of the new filename. This is especially true with Google cache and archive.org.

Hi Kevin, Thanks for your response. I'm pretty sure that the pic falls within your TOS. He/she is likely to change the avitar quickly. He must be the moderator or forum owner, he's made over 13k posts. I would call the pic suggestive, but not pornographic.

Regards, Paul.

Why not simply email him and ask him to stop? It's worked every time I've tried it. People just don't realise it's costing you, and when you explain, they stop. If they don't then just serve them a 403, based on referer in htaccess. It's cheaper for you.

I may just do that when I get this htaccess gizmo working. This guy has been sucking up about 1/3 of my bandwidth. He has changed his avitar recently.
