It seems I have underestimated what is required to run a dynamic php site (ecommerce).

I had thought that all I needed was to upload a shopping cart, and I was off and running.....I guess I was wrong....

I am going to rebuild my site again this weekend, and I wanted to ask everyone if I am missing anything, in my set up.

1. install phpmyadmin
2. install shopping cart software
3. how do I set up a IRM or other? to be able to have a "coming soon" index page, yet be able to work on my site (with a URL SEO re-writing .htacess)
on the roots level (like it would be when I go live)
4. Is there any other installs, or practices I should be aware of here on FQ?

Most people expect a secure site for shopping, so you will want to purchase either a shared or private certificate (http://www.futurequest.net/Services/VAS/#SCert), and for which you will need a certificate signing request (CSR).

You will also need a method for accepting payments.

In response to #3, I believe that was addressed by Evoir in this post:

#4 is a little broad...hard to respond to that.

Have you already browsed the E-commerce category in our Knowledgebase?
