View Full Version : If only everything was run by FQ.

Lately it seems every company I deal with gives me really below average service. It doesn't matter whether it is business related or personal, people give poor customer service, poor products, everything seems to be, well, just poor!
Things are different here, you pay a really small fee ($9.95) and get outstanding service, an excellent product (which in this business is difficult to give due to shared hosting).
It was only two days ago that Kevin went out of his way to help me on a problem on another host! Please find me one company that does that for free.
Another example, I email my DSL provider and they give me a reply 5 days later, with FQ its usually 5 minutes. Thank you FQ for your outstanding service :clapper:

You said it, phppete. I was thinking that on Friday as I tried for hours and ultimately in vain to get needed help from a laptop manufacturer. FQ rocks! :yeah:

This is what distinguishes FutureQuest from other hosts. Really.

What they said!
I was reminded again of how wonderful Future Quest is when I got a reply from customer support from ... well someone whose approach is different. I asked a question; they answered. Unfortunately, they answered a question that I hadn't asked, one which I knew the answer to and had specifically said I knew the answer to; they didn't answer the question I asked. This happens enough that I think there should be a name for it.
But it doesn't happen at FQ. Yeah FQ:yeah:

What is that called?

I don't know but it's happened to me a lot. (Maybe it's just me?) :dunno:
You know, when you ask a question, making clear in your message that you already know the basics--the stuff that you read in the FAQ--and they send back the stuff you just read in the FAQ. So you're left without an answer and the impression that they didn't read your message. Or if they did, they stopped at the key word and plugged in the FAQ information associated with that key word.
If it is just me, please let me know and I'll try to work on my communication skills. :hrmm:

nope. It happens to me, too. FQ spoils us with real answers.

I don't mean to sound polyanna about FQ. Because while their support and service are excellent, there are some challenges they face with competitors (disk space, slicker and more integrated interfaces and basically what appears to be more resources) I have been looking around, and yet I am still here, because of the service. The service is what keeps me and all my client sites here. I can sleep at night knowing that the server is being taken care of by people who have a personal stake in the success of this business. Seems worth it.
But, what are those unhelpful tech support replies called? I get them in all areas... cell phone support, broadband provider support, basically everywhere but here and perhaps another company www.interactivetools.com whose support equals FQ.
What other companies support equal the level you find here at FQ?

I dont mean to spoil the party and I agree FQ is a terrific webhost but when is FQ going to increase the disk quotas for the basic $9.95 plan from 100 MB to something more reasonable? Pair and Hostnexus, 2 other superb webhosts includes 400-500 MB as disk space for their basic plans at the same price. If FQ does increase it to be comparable before next February when my current contract expires, I will probably switch.

Pair's $9.95 package doesn't allow CGI.

I don't mean to sound like a poster boy for FQ but when are Pair and Hostnexus going to create something like FQ's FQ Secure Mode for PHP? I wouldn't want my server neighbour snooping in my files. All hosts such as CPanel are a complete and utter joke, only fit for hosting grannies knitting site because they are insecure and allow people to read your files.
I have 3 x $9.95 plans, I'd be happy if FQ increased fees by 50% for 50% less disk space.
On another note, I ordered a mobile phone from T-Mobile on the weekend, supposed to be here by 1pm today, never arrived and they havent even charged my CC so I doubt it will be here any time soon. WTF is wrong with these companies, another fine example of BS delivery dates and useless customer service. FQ is different, they have Bob, the 24/7 support guy who seems to be half human and half machine, anytime I email a reply comes back in less than 10 mins and its been this way since I have been here, several years.

One size does not fit all, I have an Odyssey Package ($53.95/mo) based on my bandwidth needs but am using 127 MB of disk space. I've been sloppy with it over the years, I could easily trim it to 100 MB...
On the other hand, business realities are constantly changing, if FQ is losing out to Pair and Hostnexus because of the way new clients evaluate prospective hosts they should look at this.

I read a complaint about how much Hostnexus charges for exceeding your data transfer allowance, but it looks like they don't disclose the amount. Not even in their TOS. And they don't (and can't) automatically disable the website according to this (http://www.nexusportal.net/showthread.php?t=9922) post. I wonder what they charge.

You would be happy with paying $15/month for 50 MB disk space? Well to each his/her own I suppose, but I do not think its reasonable for my requirements.

The trend is toward cheaper storage so a periodic adjustment to meet the competition is routine by now. But losing too much new business to the lowballers would be the only valid spur to such an adjustment.
It's just a shame that people must endure the others before they finally land here.

Well I wouldnt exactly call Pair and Hostnexus 'lowballers'. They are among or close to the cream of the crop according to most that have used their services, and Im not denying that FutureQuest is also.

Unfortunately the majority of people have no idea what is involved in shared hosting. Between the huge spam issue and now the trend for everyone to load heavy duty data driven apps into their sites such as Mambo, Joomla etc which gobble up resources as Googlebot zooms along, all that will happen as people demand more for less is that the quality of service will drop.
I have real concerns about how FQ (and any other shared host) can maintain their extraordinary level of service with the increased demand put on servers and mail servers.
I have tried loads of hosts in the past and they all proved to be absolutely crap, its only FQ who have given the kind of service I could only dream of before.
