Hi all! I need in advice!
I'm intresting in mind maping. It's a very good way to making decisions and planning. It's realy useful and solving is much easier whem you making mind map. I was using the mind mapping drawing made by hand.
Then I was recomended ConceptDraw MINDMAP (http://www.conceptdraw.com/en/products/mindmap/main.php)
I found it pretty good.Did anyone interesting in such programs? Please tell me your experience.
We had to inspect the code of VMAP (http://vmap.gold.ac.uk/) as part of a testing course here at Edinburgh, the program looked quite interesting. It's still in development but it's free so you might want to take a look :smile:
The broad aim is to provide a software tool that will be more accessible to dyslexics and better enable them to produce an e-Portfolio than existing tools.
The objectives of the project are to:
* Enable the learner to interact with a pre-defined institutional template for preparing e Portfolios in a format that is most accessible to the learner;
* Enable the learner to plan, construct and update an e Portfolio through the use of a visual mapping interface, on their own personal desktop;
* Enable the learner to share, publish and disseminate an e Portfolio through the use of a visual mapping interface, to their institutional system.
It doesn't sound quite what you're looking for but you never know.

Ah, concept maps! I was director of a research lab in the early 90s where my team developed concept mapping software in support of distributed decision making. Although I doubt the software we developed is still around, you will find quite a bit of information on these kinds of tools through a search for concept maps (http://www.google.com/search?q=concept+maps) and at this site (http://ltsnpsy.york.ac.uk/conceptmapping/conceptmapping/html/software.html).

Hmmm... I haven't done anything with flow charts, decision trees and similar diagrams in many years, in fact I abandoned most of those projects in HyperCard when I switched to Windows in 1996.
Yes, now would be a good time to reconnect with those and see what has developed since commercially. Thanks, hunterfororcs, Adam, hobbes!

I have downloaded ConceptDraw MINDMAP and I find it to be a lot like MS Word's Outline function with added graphics and a few other bells and whistles.
If you are already familiar with manipulating various elements with PowerPoint or even HTML the functions are redundant. It would be good for integrating a planning process into a group setting, but if you're already using PowerPoint or similar I don't see much advantage to switching. If there is an advantage over Word Outline or PP the ConceptDraw promotional should shout it, because I'm not getting it. I think Powerpoint already incorporates most of the Word Outline functions. Maybe it's easier to pull all the elements together with the included icons and graphics, but I think anyone who's been making web pages for a while already has those skills and free clip art libraries are easy to find.

As for me, I'm using mind maps everywhere! Because, they enables you to present information in a simple, visual way by building trees of ideas.
The mind map makes the understanding much easier. It's very good way for solving problems.
