We have had to power cycle the PT01 (POP Toaster) server. This will affect mail access for those accounts assigned to PT01.

No email will be lost as it will be queued but sending and receiving email will be interrupted until this is completed.

Our apologies for any inconvenience,
Bob

Thanks for the speedy update. I just noticed a few minutes ago that my mail wasn't fetching, came over here, and found that you had already posted an explanation. If only all companies were this on-the-ball!

After a second reboot to fix a problem with a new kernel installation, PT01 has failed to power on properly. A technician is on his way to the data center to investigate.

PT01 has been returned to normal operations at this time. From what we can determine, a disk I/O stall caused the initial failure, which was subsequently complicated by a configuration issue with the new kernel.

Our apologies again for the inconvenience.

Confirmed, we may have spoke too soon... :(

We are still digging into PT01 trying to isolate the cause of the slowdown...

Responding now.

When we reset PT01 earlier, we went ahead and took the opportunity to slide in an updated Linux kernel... Unfortunately, the new kernel update caused a severe slowdown in Disk I/O writes for the POP3 service... We elected to reset the server once more and revert to the prior kernel which has restored the writes back to full speed...

In a nutshell, PT01 is now back in full production with everything back to speed...

Our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this outage has caused...

Thank you all for the quick response. It's back to normal from my end.
