Okay, I didn't know where to post this, and this poor forum has been idle too long.

I have a client, well okay it's actually my DH, who hosts his website with me. Under his website he has an IRM that points to a directory in his site. He wants me to switch them around, i.e., make the IRM active and the now-active site an IRM.

Problem is, I just paid for a year's worth of hosting. If I switch these two around, do I lose the year's hosting, or can I just switch the payment I made for the now-active site to the soon-to-be-active site?

I am going to first make the IRM active, get it rolling and then deactivate and point the now-active site. All within a 24 hours period, I hope.

Hello Dee,

We have a FAQ that describes how to go about switching an IRM with a main hosting package, which you will find here:
http://service.futurequest.net/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=402

There are two options, essentially, and they are described in the FAQ. Note that with an IRM you are going to have to move files regardless of which option you choose, since IRM files go in a subdirectory of the /www folder.

If you choose the manual option from the FAQ (option #1), then you would order a brand new full hosting package for the IRM becoming a full hosting package, and then later cancel the current full hosting package and order an IRM for that domain. In that case, the cancelled annual package would be prorated out at the monthly cost and the balance applied to your account, so it could be used to cover part of the cost of the new hosting package.

If you choose option #2, and order a domain name change, then it would essentially be considered the same hosting package with a new domain name, and so the annual billing would simply continue as is (already paid for) with no change in the billing date.

If you have any additional questions, just let us know.

Thanks for the speedy reply Sheila. I'll be going with Door #1, as the IRM is in a subdirectory and I'll have to copy them over anyway. I don't know why I couldn't land on that page when I did a search, but that is exactly the info I needed. Thanks!

No problem at all. Just think of us as your personal FAQ tour guides.
