I recently noticed this. When you set up personalities in Questmail and send a message through the personality, it still includes your original email address in the header:

Received: from IPADDRESS
(SquirrelMail authenticated user originaluser@domain.com)
by QuestMail.FutureQuest.net with HTTP;
Wed, 28 Aug 2002 15:01:21 -0400 (EDT)

Is there a way I can disable that? I use different email addresses for different purposes so that my original email address is not spammed....

Thanks,
Manish

Good grief. I didn't realize that either.

I second the request (or question) - is there a way to disable this?

I have made some changes and the line now reads;
(SquirrelMail authenticated user)
without the address you used to login.

Note, the Return-Path will still be set to the original email address. This will not be changed. If want that to reflect another address, you will have to login under that address. Or use a real email client of course, QuestMail is not meant to be used as your primary email client.

Arthur,
Thanks for the change. Is there a reason for not changing the Return-Path?

I have this elaborate email setup at home so that I can change personalities with emails going to addresses that forward to a "real" address.
However, when I am at work, I use Questmail because I don't want to download my personal email on my work computer. I try to use Questmail so that it mimics my setup at home. It has always worked and it has been very useful.

The key is that I don't know if there is a way I can log into Questmail with one of my "forwarded" accounts because they are not real pop/imap accounts. That's why I have setup these personalities so that I can easily switch between email addresses. I hope all of this makes sense (It does to me :))

Is there a reason for not changing the Return-Path Yes, to be able to easily identify which account sent an email. Faking the From: address is easily done with the QuestMail identities.

If you don't want to download your email at work, but still read it, you can also use an IMAP email client. For instance the email client in Mozilla does a fairly good job with IMAP, but there are many other email clients too.
You can of course use QuestMail, but it has its limitations. I find a real email client easier.
