Hello all, we are new here and I need help before I kill my hubby for buying an IRM.
our main doman is maxpatch.com the other is maxpatchink.com
so here are my questions.

1)This slash issue. Does this mean that anywhere we have put advertisements out without this / is not going to get to our site?

2)Where the heck to do I set up this IRM domain? I have looked all over the CNC and these forums and can't find instructions anywhere.

Please advise on this ASAP so we can decide if we made a mistake and need to get 2 seperate packages or not.

Thanks!
Moke

Thanks Deb, but Phil already ordered the IRM and looks like that was a mistake, and I did search for hours on these forums.

Thanks Joe, problem is I have no idea where he told them to point it to. The email we got from FQ shows nothing about our other domain. So after y'alls replies, "I" have decided he has ordered the wrong thing.

I can't get my email to work either, this is very frustrating to me. So thanks again for your help. Hopefully we can just change our packages and figure out the email.
And get Internic to accept our transfer.

BTW Joe, you should point that travel trailer our way, Western North Carolina. ;)[nbsp]

You have ordered the main domain but maxpatchink.com has not yet been ordered.[nbsp][nbsp]Each domain needs to be ordered separately.[nbsp][nbsp]You still have time to weigh the requirements and decide which you feel will best fit your needs.

Deb

BTW -- What type of problem are you having with email?[nbsp][nbsp]Note that it will not totally work until the domain transfer has been completed.[nbsp][nbsp]If you havn't already begun the process of the transfer, the info you need can be found at http://Register.FutureQuest.net/index.php

Ohhhhhhhhh so he lied to me! ;) ~
Well that's good then, maybe he can change the silver package we did order and then order 2 basic ones with maxpatch.com having extra mgs.

I set up the pop accounts and tried one, it keeps popping up asking for the password and then refuses it.
I know the password is correct and there is 2 emails in there I can't get to. For this particular mail ink@maxpatch.com is on Outlook Express
I put in the xmaxpatch-ink, tried xmaxpatch-ink@maxpatch.com
put the servers as maxpatch.com
still wouldn't work. I did read the tutorial also.

This is most likely because the domain name hasn't transferred yet.[nbsp][nbsp]Click here (http://www.nsiregistry.com/cgi-bin/whois?whois_nic=maxpatch.com&type=domain) to see the current WHOIS info.[nbsp][nbsp]Notice the Name Servers are not yet showing FutureQuest.[nbsp][nbsp]The transfer will need to be completed for everything to work as expected.

You may want to try using the IP number as the incoming and outgoing server to see if that'll work for now... you'll also want to try using your old host info since they are still receiving email for the domain ....
The IP# here is 208.243.19.72

Thanks Deb! I'll try the ip.

Well see Network Solutions keeps kicking back the emails saying it is not the email address they have, lies! So guess Phil will also have to call them and get that straigtened out.

Thanks for all your help!

If it makes you feel any better, when he calls Network Solutions he will have to wait on hold for 2 or 3 hours...

The IRMs do require a forward slash to be called correctly.[nbsp][nbsp]I usually recommend using the full url... http://www.domain.com/index.html

Searching the forums will show quite a bit of detail, information, ideas for this issue.[nbsp][nbsp]To have full functionality a full package would be needed.

To order an IRM you would visit http://www.FutureQuest.net/Order/ selecting the Internal Redirection (IRM/IRO) option.

I have a number of IRMs and don't have any problems with it (or my wife threatening to kill me :) ... now if I don't find her a new travel trailer soon, that's another story :P ).

As far as where to set it up, it all depends where you told FQ to point it to.[nbsp][nbsp]If you told them to have www.maxpatchink.com (http://www.maxpatchink.com) point to http://www.maxpatch.com/maxpatchink/ then you need to put the files for www.maxpatchink.com (http://www.maxpatchink.com) into the www.maxpatch.com/maxpatchink/ (http://www.maxpatch.com/maxpatchink/) directory.

For more info, check out http://www.FutureQuest.net/ir.php.

Hope this helps.

And for 2 or 3 hours, they would not wanna pay long distance. Hence as of my knowledge, they don't have a 1-800 number. :( Then you have to deal with the telehelper who really doesn't end up helping you...

The trailing slash is only essential when you are using subdirectories on an IRM.

www.matchpatchink.com (http://www.matchpatchink.com) will work fine as an IRM. If you want to point users to a subdirectory then you must include the slash:

www.matchpatchink.com/subdir/ (http://www.matchpatchink.com/subdir/) will work www.matchpatchink.com/subdir (http://www.matchpatchink.com/subdir) won't

There are workarounds for this if needed, so even then it doesn't have to be a problem. It's only a problem when you don't know about it!

Thanks for all the info and help!
He only had to wait 45 minutes, I think they have a deal with the phone companies to get part of the money. We got it taken care of, just waiting for the change over to take affect.

We just went with two seperate packages, I'm too lazy to deal with anything else :0)

I agree with the previous comments on Network Solutions. Wait till you try to move a domain for a customer in which the Technical/Admin contacts at the previous host are no longer around!
