Since it seems that FutureQuest has it's share of developers of one sort or another.

I was wondering if there was a listing or some such thing of those who are available for hire.

Perhaps a listing based on a particular strong point of one's web development skills.

I.E. Perl/CGI, PHP/MySql, Flash, E-Commerce, Jack of some trades master of none --->me

Just a thought.......

Would anybody like to have such a list?

I think that could be a very useful idea, but I think it could also be harmful to the community.[nbsp][nbsp]If not carefully watched over, I see something like that becoming a competition sort of like optimal placement in search engines and directories.[nbsp][nbsp]Anyone who's going to take the time to list themselves as available is going to want to make sure they are the most desireable.[nbsp][nbsp];)

I actually think things are nearly perfect as they are.[nbsp][nbsp]There is such a strong sense of community that if you ask a question, someone with skills in that area is very likely to answer without any hint of self promotion.[nbsp][nbsp]I would like to see it remain that way, not that your suggestion would necessarily harm it.

I've considered adding a feature like this to Aota.net for quite some time now.[nbsp][nbsp]Unfortunately as Dan noted there are concerns where the few could ruin it for the many.

Placing Banner Ads on aota.net as well as having the "Site Owner" status within the forums has been a mild "test bed" for things such as this.

Hard to believe but... We've seen some FQ competitors sign up w/ bogus accounts just long enough to get a banner placed up on aota.net only to switch it out with a banner pointing to their own hosting services :(

I've also found it difficult to keep track of "Site Owners" in ensuring that they are accurate.[nbsp][nbsp]As people come and go it becomes an administrative nightmare.[nbsp][nbsp]It's fair for the listings to be placed on FQ for FQ but unfair for non-FQ members to be taking up the slots as well...

I have no doubt that we will find a fair and simple way to make the idea a reality.[nbsp][nbsp]I *know* it is needed as we are often trying to refer those in need of pro help to others who can offer it.[nbsp][nbsp]For now, I point them to the forums to make the request.

The basic idea is splendid and would help a lot of people on both sides of the fence.. we just need to iron out some loose ends before we can bring it to the forefront.

Keep toddling the idea around and discussing it.[nbsp][nbsp]You would be surprised how much the discussions on these forums shape the construction on the back side.[nbsp][nbsp]If all of you were to stop communicating out here FutureQuest would be lost.[nbsp][nbsp]We depend on your thoughts.[nbsp][nbsp]We laid the foundation with one server and no sleep.. the rest of FutureQuest began within these forums.

Good points. It could be ugly.

What I envisioned was just a listing without any or minimal descriptive prose.
