Removing Unwanted Email Directly From The Server.

There are times when a particularly large email, that your email client may have difficulty in downloading, finds its way into one of your POP email accounts.

Below are some of the options available to you for removing these large emails directly from the server.

Email within your Root/Shell or standard POP email account

After logging into your CNC, click on the Email Manager menu option and then on the email account username. Once within the email account's Mailbox Properties click either the Forwarding link or the Delete link.

If Forwarding is chosen you will be presented with a text box to enter the email address you wish the mail to be forwarded to. Enter an email address of your choice and then choose whether to delete the mail after it has been forwarded or to keep it within the original mailbox. Once you click the Submit button the task is complete.

If Deleting is chosen, simply press the Confirm button on the next page.

Using telnet to remove unwanted email:

The attractiveness of utilizing telnet, to remove email, is that you may select individual email messages for deletion rather than deleting all of the messages within the account. This prevents losing any wanted email that the offending message may be preventing you from accessing.

Instructions for using telnet in this fashion may be found here:

Using POP3 Scan Mailbox© to remove unwanted email:

For those uncomfortable with using telnet, or having difficulty in removing an unwanted email from their server with telnet, there is another option.

POP3 Scan Mailbox© is a relatively simple to install, and operate, email utility that can access your POP email accounts on the server and delete individual or multiple emails of your choice, in a similar fashion as telnet but without the command line interface.

A tutorial on the use of POP3 Scan Mailbox and download link is available here:

Thanks very much to Mike Mann (web site), who has graciously allowed us to provide a downloadable copy of his POP3 Scan Mailbox©.
