How do I obtain a certificate?
To obtain a Secure Server Certificate, complete the following 3 steps:
- Order/create your CSR (certificate signing request). A CSR is required before ordering a certificate from the Certificate Authority (CA) of your choice (step 2). The following information is required to create your CSR:
- Your domain name
- The official name of your business or organization
- Your business or organization's mailing address
- A contact e-mail address
- Submit your CSR and order your certificate from the CA of your choice. Some of the more popular ones include -
Verisign
Thawte
Geotrust
- Order installation of your certificate using http://www.QuestAdmin.net/
(If you haven't yet created your QuestAdmin login, you will need to do that first. Just click the "Create Login" tab at the QuestAdmin link above.)
You will be asked to provide documentation in order to prove your right to use your organization's name. Once your completed application form has been received, you will receive an email indicating the specific documentation that is required in your case. Documentation requirements vary depending on your type of organization. The following are the types of documentation you may be asked to provide:

An original, signed letter from the head of the department on the appropriate letterhead, and contact information for the department head as well as immediate superiors. |

An original, signed letter from the Dean or Vice-Chancellor on the appropriate letterhead, and contact information for the university. |
Documents must include seal or signature of authenticator. Applications for pending documents are not acceptable. Notary or other witnessed signature verification is not required.
Please note: The secure server certificates offered here are intended for installation on a FutureQuest® server. If you have a different web host provider, please contact your provider for availability and pricing.
If you already have your own certificate and just need it installed on the FutureQuest® servers, just log in to QuestAdmin to submit your request for installation. (If you haven't yet created your QuestAdmin login, you will need to do that first. Just click the "Create Login" tab at the QuestAdmin link above.)
